This virtual, two-part series will examine preventative classroom management strategies—the effective implementation of these strategies increases engagement so students can meet their learning goals! Each session will provide a space for educators to collaborate with other educators while learning to apply preventative classroom management practices in their classrooms and schools. Participants will learn about eight research-based classroom management practices across this 2-partseries.
Part 1: Thursday, August 21, 2025 | 1:00-2:30 CT / 2:00-3:30 ET
Part one focuses on designing the physical setting, developing predictable routines, actively supervising students, and teaching expectations.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand and identify critical features of four research-based, preventative classroom management practices: design the physical setting, develop routines, actively supervise students, and teach expectations.
- Examine tools that can be used to evaluate your use of classroom management practices.
- Apply new knowledge of classroom management practices during collaborative activities and develop plans to implement practices in the classroom.

Part two focuses on using precorrection and prompts, providing opportunities to respond, using flexible learning groups, and providing behavior-specific feedback.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand and identify critical features of four research-based preventative classroom management practices: pre-correct and prompt behavior, provide opportunities to respond, use flexible learning groups, and provide specific feedback.
- Examine tools that can be used to evaluate your use of classroom management practices.
- Apply new knowledge of classroom management practices during collaborative activities and develop plans to implement practices in the classroom.
