Implementor Spotlight - Washington County School Distrct

Washington County School District continues to demonstrate a deep commitment to student success through the continual development of professional practice and a strong focus on understanding learner needs to drive effective intervention. In December, district leaders and school leadership teams participated in Experience Dyslexia, an immersive professional learning simulation designed to build empathy and deepen understanding of dyslexia and other reading-related learning differences. Through six interactive stations that replicate real-world reading, writing, and listening tasks, participants experienced the frustration, anxiety, and cognitive load many students face daily. 

This powerful learning opportunity reinforced the critical importance of deeply understanding students' learning profiles to accurately identify specific skill gaps and implement targeted, evidence-based interventions. When educators understand how and why students struggle, they are better equipped to select precise instructional strategies, deliver tiered supports, and monitor progress strategically. This intentional alignment between learner needs and instructional responses is essential for accelerating growth, closing achievement gaps, and fostering confidence and resilience in students.
